　　China University of Geosciences actively explores the issue of how CCP can improve the way of management and work at the institutions of higher learning under the new historical circumstances. In fact, it has already worked out a new approach of strengthening the construction of the Party centering round the major issues of the university. During the period of the Ninth Five-Year Plan, the Party Committee of CUG led the faculty and the staff of the university to work hard and endure hardships. As a result, CUG grasped the two major historical chances, namely, "211 Project" construction and the increase of recruitment, which doubled the total number of the students studying in CUG within five years, realizing a development of the university beyond the conventional means, and enabling the Party to unite more intellectuals.

　　CUG also promotes moral education at the website. "Voice of CUG" combines literal texts, pictures and audio-visual functions of network, trying to ensure full swing of positive publicity and healthy information at the website, which acts as a new window for the publicity of CUG and also functions as a new channel for CUG to learn more about the society.

　　CUG sticks to the guidelines of promoting teaching with moral education, and advocates loyalty to the education undertaking and persists in the principles of education by teaching, by service, and by management, aiming at building up a faculty both morally and intellectually sound and offering educational services for students. In recent years, CUG is actively engaged in all kinds of activities of spiritual civilization and strives to turn the university into a frontier for advanced culture.

　　CUG adheres to running school in the spirit of democracy and administrating the university in accordance with laws. Administration leaders have to run for their positions and administration process becomes increasingly transparent. The represents meeting of the staff is given a full play as a bridge between authorities and the staff. CUG was awarded 1996-2000 "Ten Best" unit of administration by law in Hubei Province in 2001.
