Hankou College of CUG(Wuhan) has a history as long as over 40 years. It is located at Hankou, the downtown of Wuhan City, with convenient transportation and beautiful environment. It covers about 178 mu with a total floor area of more than 57000 square meters. It owns many modern teaching facilities including advanced laboratories, computer centers, net centers, library, phonetic laboratory and multi-media classrooms, etc. All these have provided students with an excellent atmophere for their study. Moreover, the college is also equipped with standardized playground and college students’ activity center, which have furnished students’ leisure life with good surroundings. The campus life is extremely convenient and comfortable here with modern accommodation and dining halls for students. Thus, the college undoubtedly makes an ideal place for students’ study. Currently, it is mainly responsible for advanced vocational education, network education, and adult education.

　　There are five departments: Business Management School, School of Electronic Infromation Science, Department of State Land Resources and Architectural Engineering, Foreign Languages Department, and Basic Courses Department. The college runs altogether 37 programs for both three-year and four-year undergraduate education. The current students total about 5000. Of the 147 full-time teachers, 55 are full professors, associate professors, and teachers with senior professional titles; about 20 percent of the faculty holds Master’s and Doctor’s Degrees. The college also attaches great importance to the training for different certificates, ensuring students getting certificates concerning their respective majors. As a result, it has established good foundation for the fostering of students with comprehensive makings and various skills. Graduates have thus been broadly welcomed by the society.

　　Hankou College always faces the demands of national economic development, and is extensively carrying out the academic exchanges and cooperation both at home and abroad. It follows the rules of higher education in the atmosphere of a socialist market economy, continuously adjusting the construction of majors and strictly running the education. Excellent auras of being virorous, realistic and enterprising, and its unique educational style, have greatly boosted its reputation. In the assessment of schools of higher education in Hubei province in 1992 and 1997, the college is rewarded as with good conditions, correct instructions, strict management and rules, good teaching qualities, and outstanding achievements. It is continuously making even more progress and advancement.
