¡¡¡¡Network Education College

¡¡¡¡CUG Network Education College is one of the experimental units been authorized by the State Ministry of Education for the modern distance education. The college relys on the preponderant disciplines of the university, reasonably makes use of the resources and facilities of both on-campus and off¨Ccampus teaching centers, and thus have provided students with diversified multi-level training. It aims at providing studying opportunities, constructing life-long educational service system, and building an information highway extending in all directions. The responsibility of the college also falls into the cultivation of highly qualified talents for the socialist construction. There are advanced computer network, modernized distance education flat roof, and abundant on-line teaching resources. Moreover, the college has established over 20 off-campus teaching centers in 15 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, thus forming an integrated teaching service system.
¡¡¡¡The college runs institutions as President¡¯s Office, Vice President¡¯s Office, Administrative Office, Teaching Management Department, Recruitment and Studentship Management Section, Technology-supporting Section, and On-line Resources and Courseware Research and Exploitation Section, etc.
¡¡¡¡CUG Network Education College currently offers 11 majors, namely Computer Science and Technology, Information Management and Information System, GIS, English, Business Management, Gems and Material Crafts, Law, Security Engineering, Civil Engineering, Economics, and Administrative Management. It runs both three-year, four-year programs and refresher courses. The students can pursue their studies in different real-time, non-real-time, and interactive ways. For example, they can listen to the lectures personally, study on line, turn to after-class tutorship, raise questions on line, and hold discussions with each other. After they have scored the stipulated credits and measured up the requirements for academic performances, students can be granted graduation certificates issued by the university. The diplomas they get are acknowledged by the country and will be electronically registered.
¡¡¡¡The college focuses on on-the-job education and continuing education, attracts enrollment of learners with high school studying experience (or equal educational level) or three-year-program diploma. Learners can be enrolled after passing examinations organized by the college itself. The subjects being tested accord with those of national college entrance examination. Network Education College will also adopt the system of acknowledging credits together with other universities. All learners who are willing to pursue their studies here are warmly welcome


¡¡¡¡Teaching Patterns of Network Education College


¡¡¡¡Traditonal way of teaching with teachers playing the major role and the network teaching as its aid


¡¡¡¡This teaching pattern is mainly applicable to the freshmen in college. When their first academic year begins, students mainly attend classes taught by teachers face to face. Then after class, they carry out the reviewing, previewing, and question-inquiring process via network. This stage of studying mainly aims at training the studying consciousness of students, thus establishing foundation for their learning via network in senior years.


¡¡¡¡Student-oriented network teaching via Web


¡¡¡¡This teaching pattern is mainly applicable to senior students in college. With the upgrading of students to senior studies, the main teaching pattern applied on them turns gradually form on-class teaching to network teaching. As a result, traditional face-to-face teaching is replaced by the open, cooperative, and interactive student-oriented network teaching via Web; the proportion of courses using this modern way of teaching is continuously being increased. Internet, satellite net, real-time and non-real-time, interactive and non-interactive techniques will become main technical patterns of network teaching. Students can carry out interactive and visualized studies by using computer network, satellite TV network, multi-media electronic disc textbooks, and so on.


¡¡¡¡Coordination of concrete labs and on-line dummy labs for the practice of students


¡¡¡¡According to the specific requirements raised by the practice classes of various disciplines, those courses having high demands for students¡¯ practical skills and their cognitive abilities are mainly instructed by teachers and fulfilled in labs. As to abstract contents and some taches not easy to operate by hands, they are displayed by multi-media flash and completed by dummy man-machine interaction on line.


¡¡¡¡Graduation exercitation and graduation design instructed by supervisors


¡¡¡¡After students have fulfilled the requirements for their credits, they are instructed by appointed supervisors to carry out their graduation exercitation and graduation design. Then, students write graduation papers themselves and are permitted to graduate after they have passed the presentation of their graduation papers.
