China University of Geosciences intensifies international academic exchanges and cooperation. During the period of Ninth Five-Year Plan, more than 600 foreign experts and scholars were invited to CUG for research and academic visit and about 30 foreign experts were teaching in CUG. At the same time, more than 300 (person-time) people were sent abroad for cooperative research and academic visit. CUG has hosted 17 international academic conferences at which about 300 papers have been presented or published. CUG has a growing capacity to enroll overseas students.

　　In recent years, CUG has established friendly relationship of academic exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities in more than 30 countries. It has also successfully launched the joint training program with Moscow State University.

　　On the basis of joint running of school with British Association of Gemology, the oldest gemological institution in the world, CUG founded the first Gemological Institute in China mainland. GIC conferred by the Gemological Institute of CUG is recognized worldwide in the jewelry businesses. The 29th International Symposium of Gemology will be co-hosted by CUG and Gemological Institute of Hong Kong University in Wuhan in 2003.

　　In conformity with the requirements raised by the opening-up and the international academic exchanges, CUG has established International Education College in Febuary of 2004 International Education College handles official business together with CUG International Cooperation and Exchange Office. It is responsible for such international educaiton affairs as the projects of joint school running, overseas school running, affairs of overseas students, and various international short-term trainings, etc.
